about
Beginning May 31st, 2019, on the last Friday of every month, Michael S. Ryan will release a new song. John Coffey is release #1.
This song also represents the first in a collaborative project between Michael S. Ryan and Kristen Herrington Art. For every song, KHA will be creating a representational piece of art that captures the mood, emotions and essence of each song in painting form. Each month the song, painting, music video, performance video, and various items with the artwork printed on will be released.

John Coffey - Lyrics
I feel like more a man but maybe less a human being
I killed some living things this week, I don’t know what it means
We used to stare at the water here but they’re blocking out our view That concrete wall needs a wrecking ball and a demolition crew
Too many bills, oil ain’t cheap, and my back is getting sore
I feel like I’m an old man getting near bout 84
I’ll try to be a good man that’ll never let you down
Even when the world has got our backs against the ground
I wish I had some super powers like big John Coffey
I’d take away the pain I saw in every country
I’d suck away the bad that you ever saw or heard
Don’t ever be afraid I wouldn’t let them get my girl
Chorus
I hope you know that I’m there for you, no matter what they put us through
I hope you know that I won’t back down, no matter if I’m bleeding on the ground
I want to write a song that could hold you if I die
Tell you all the things I used to say when I was alive Maybe I could build a boat and sail with you to sea
Float free in the water while I whisper pleasantries
I’m far as hell from a rich man but I’ll give you all I can
I ain’t got much for money but I’ll give you all I am
Any time it’s getting hard I’ll be there at your side
A thousand different armies couldn’t stop me if they tried
Chorus
I hope you know that I’m there for you, no matter what they put us through
I hope you know that I won’t back down, no matter if I’m bleeding on the ground
I want to write a song that could hold you if I die
